Naresh Bharathy is a standout student-athlete for North Carolina Central University’s men’s tennis team, combining strong on-court performances with academic excellence. A two-time MEAC All-Academic Team selection, Bharathy posted a 13-7 singles record in 2024-25, going a perfect 5-0 in conference play with key wins over Norfolk State, South Carolina State, Morgan State, Coppin State, and Howard. In 2023-24, he earned the Eagle Excellence Award from NCCU Athletics and recorded a 12-10 singles mark, highlighted by non-conference victories over Hampton, Queens, UNC Greensboro, Davidson, Shaw, and Johnson C. Smith. As a freshman in 2022-23, he was named to the MEAC All-Tournament Team at No.4 singles, earned MEAC Men’s Tennis Rookie of the Week honors, and was recognized as an ITA Scholar-Athlete. Before college, Bharathy starred at Green Hope High School, helping his team win the 2018 state championship and finish as 2020 state finalists. He was a two-time conference and regional champion, playing No.1 singles and doubles. Born in Ambasamudram, India, he's a left-handed player who is ambidextrous, he enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with friends. He is majoring in biomedical sciences at NCCU.
